How Adil Baguirov is Changing Education?
Adil Baguirov has vacated his chair in Dayton school as being one of its board members, seeking for new opportunities. Well after all, his past works have made significant contributions to how our education system is now and to how it is affecting students.
Education is not a finite process and it does not start at morning bell then stops at dismissal particularly it does not start on the first day of your kindergarten and ends on your graduation day on college and years ahead, Adil Baguirov Dayton has seen this already.
Adil Baguirov is saddened with the present education system we have now which different parts of the globe follows as well is focused on achieving goals, passing tests and hitting the correct answers. There are a number of foundational blocks that are crucial for developing lifelong learning. And no, this isn’t a new idea introduced in the public instead, it is long overdue and many studies can back this up.
Number 1. Learning should be relevant – if we get to learn skills because it’s needed to do something that matters, then it is easier for us to remember it. So as an example, for students who want to know how to properly measure the land area and calculate it to grow a garden, they will need a formula to get the answer. In one way or the other, they’ll get the formula on their own which can improve their skills and widen their knowledge.
Number 2. Extrinsic rewards – extrinsic rewards given for activities that people enjoy can cause the decrease of their motivation, which is believed by Adil Baguirov as well. To make it simpler, if you have a kid who enjoys reading and has become a habit for him/her to read 30 minutes a day, giving them rewards will cause it to have less pleasure from reading.
Adil Baguirov Dayton believe that these rewards should be reserved when it is only needed most to motivate people to do things they don’t enjoy much. With this in mind, the learning that comes with grades only becomes just learning for the sake of grades and not for added knowledge. In reality, there are so many students who have graduated college with flying colors but, they couldn’t remember the content of what they have learned after the test.
Number 3. Group study – collaborative learning environments actually encourages students to listen to others, think for themselves and explain what they think. The moment they leave school, it is vital for students to collaborate to each. This is why Adil Baguirov Dayton is trying to rule out the tradition of testing every student one by one and make them compete against each other instead, encourage them to collaborate.
