Discovering The Truth About Religions

The Price Tag That Comes With Christian Discipleship

Discipleship is a term commonly used in Christian settings in today’s world to refer to people who embrace the teachings of Jesus, help in the spread of the gospel and believe in God and all His doctrines. During His teachings to His followers, Christ commissioned the people to spread the teachings of Christian discipleship and baptize them as well. Any teaching on Christian discipleship cannot end without the mention of Jesus Christ just like Wood Science and Todd Shupe.

Becomimg a follower of Jesus calls for patience and perseverance. In as much as Jesus died on the cross to bring salvation to humanity for free, discipleship comes with an extremely higher cost. Being a Christian means we only on Christ and nothing else on top of it. Jesus explained the price one pays to be a disciple in three dimensions.

Discipleship means owning nothing else apart from Jesus Christ. By hating everything, Christ meant that we should not allow human beings come between us and God. Human beings should never be allowed to dictate the kind of relationship we have with our Creator. When Our thoughts or family drag us away from God, we should give up on them and follow Christ. God asks human beings to obey their parents to live long on earth but this does not mean we cannot disobey them when they make us break the Lord’s commandments. Asking the wives to be submissive to their husbands is only applicable where righteousness is concerned but they are supposed to turn to Christ every time the men use submission as a tool to fall into sin.

The next step to being a disciple of Jesus Christ is carrying one’s cross. Jesus used the term cross to refer to the daily control of the earthly desires and the willingness to bear the reproach of His name. Christ was crucified on the cross just to save the sinful human beings. Just like Christ suffered for our sins, His disciples will also undergo the same. Jesus’ disciples should avoid actions that result in breaking of the commandments.

Being a disciple of Jesus calls for zero interest in material wealth. By losing material ownership for Christ means an individual can never equally serve two masters at ago without neglecting one. The disciples of Jesus should strive to have their treasures in heaven and not on earth. A Christian cannot just add Christ to their material possessions as a way of rounding up their spirituality.

Christ told His followers the stories of two young men to explain the impact of wealth on Christianity. One of them was a very rich man but when Christ told him to give out all his wealth and follow him, he failed. The one who had lost his father decided to bury his father first before claiming his heavenly position.
